Debi Pillarella, M.Ed., is a spokesperson for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and has more than 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. As an ACE-certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and advanced fitness and health specialist, Pillarella has extensive knowledge in several disciplines, including youth fitness. She is the fitness program director of the Community Hospital Fitness Pointe in Munster, Indiana, and an adjunct faculty member at Purdue University Calumet and Indiana University Northwest, where she received the 2004 Award for Teaching Excellence.
Pillarella is a licensed teacher in Illinois and Indiana, and spent 15 years teaching physical education to children in the Chicago public schools. She also served as the fitness specialist for EatBetterAmerica.com. Pillarella was recently named IDEA Health & Fitness Association's 2009 Program Director of the Year for her work at the Community Hospital Fitness Pointe. She lives in Munster, Indiana, with her husband, Jim, and their two boys, Joe and Luke.
